Yoga

The meaning of Yoga, in its literal sense, means "union," and is derived from the Sanskrit root word, yuj, meaning "to unite." This meaning reflects how Yoga unites all opposites - mind and body, stillness and movement, masculine and feminine, sun and moon. It is a harmonizing system of development for the body, mind, and spirit.

No other form of exercise so completely involves the mind and spirit with the body, resulting in total well being. The incorporation of yogic stretching in conjunction with other types of functional exercise and recreational sports will greatly complement each other.

The continued practice of yoga can lead to a sense of peace and well being. The asanas or poses performed make the body strong and flexible, improves the functioning of the respiratory, circulatory, digestive, and hormonal systems, and can bring about emotional stability and clarity of mind.

In the practice of Yoga the ultimate aim is one of self-development and self-realization. It can be viewed as being the means and tools to realign and rebalance your body on a regular basis. You take control and you can then become your body’s mechanic instead of having to pay a medical professional to do it.

Because your body is finely tuned you will find that your chances for injuries and illnesses will drop as you are in a much more attuned state. Prevention and care is by far the best medicine there is. It all comes down to balance.
